The first time Ursula Medley started to paint with oil on board, working on a 12”x 12” format, it was to facilitate the development of her skill as an outdoor painter – a Tom Thomson for our times, working out of a van alongside the ‘Sea to Sky’ highway.  Medley wanted to learn to capture what she saw as quickly and accurately as she could, often setting herself the discipline of an hour per ‘sketch’, with the aid of an alarm clock.
Ann Rosenberg, Art Historian, Vancouver, BC

Wonders of the world inspire Ursula Medley to paint from life: in and around her studio in Lang Bay, BC; on road trips and up coastal BC fjords; on art journeys to Europe, and winter escapes to Mexico.

Medley’s painting style is loose, transparent and full of light. Works are available in original oils and limited edition prints.
